Hello everyone,
We have sailed out of the harbour today. Before leaving we made some preparations and got to do some fun activities on board: we learned our sails and lines, and most importantly we went aloft. For some of us it was the first time, and although it was a bit scary it was an amazing opportunity and we just couldn’t miss it!
During the Parade of Sails out of the harbour there were many smaller vessels waiting for us to sail by and lots of people waving at us from the shore. There wasn’t enough wind to actually sail, so we proceeded by engine for a while and set anchor in the middle of a lovely archipelago just outside of Turku, together with other sailing ships.
The weather up to that point had been amazing and we decided to enjoy it by taking a shower on deck, going for a swim or taking the dinghy to one of the islands. Then the rain came again, but with it we saw a pretty double rainbow. Also on the island we saw some cows and it was allowed to go and pet them, so we did!
We’re planning to spend the night here, so our regular watches have been suspended and an anchor watch has been set in their place.
We can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring, hopefully more rainbows! 🙂
