The Story of Private Fly

This is a story of grief.
A principle of life has always been the choice whether to eat the others or survive with them:
If two organisms can’t live together, one will eat the other. Such is the situation in every field of life, human or wild, and in this very story.

Sailing off the coast of Öland, the crew of Roald Amundsen was attacked. A swarm of flies gradually appeared on the ship. Like a band of infiltrators, they were only noticed once there were too many. That was when Heike, unser erster Steuermann, came up with an idea: The Fly-Challenge.
What it meant was that the owner of the highest killstreak of the winged pirates was to be honored an ice cream… ON THE SHIP. Now. Victor Hugo has said in his ,,Notre-Dame de Paris‘ that ‚One candle doesn`t attract just one fly‘. The competition was fierce and the winner only one.
With a streak of 42 winged-ones sent to pirate heaven, Anett proved the one victorious.

Yet…
They say that ,,Ühe mehe õnnetus on teise õnn‘ – ‚One man’s loss is another’s gain. Anett, to her own gain, was a source of heavy loss. Private fly is one of those victims, his epic poem is here to enlighten. It is a historical piece serving the same mankind to whom Henrik once wrote the ,,Liivimaa Kroonika‘.

In addition to our epic fly adventure we were also kept busy by changing winds making us tack through the afternoon. Some sudden but successful manoevers later with aspiring nautical officer apprentices practicing we are now heading straight towards the races finishing line. Looking forward to Szczecin, which we will keep fly free for sure.
