What happens when you set sail – and grow beyond yourself?
This 16-minute documentary (German – with English subtitles) follows the crew of the traditional sailing ship Roald Amundsen.
Between maneuvers and sunsets, we explore what sail training truly means:
Taking responsibility, pushing your limits, building true community – and growing with the wind.
Nina starts out as a deckhand and gradually grows into a leadership role.
But this film is more than a personal story – it’s a glimpse into a world that slows you down, brings people together, and leaves a lasting mark.
For me, this film is deeply personal: I’ve crossed the Atlantic twice aboard the Roald Amundsen – and the spirit of this ship, and the people on board, stayed with me.
It was the perfect inspiration for my first documentary.
✨ For anyone seeking adventure. For those who want to know what it means not just to sail – but to truly live at sea.
⚓ The Roald Amundsen is currently present at Kiel Week. A perfect moment to see this beautiful ship in real life.
