A lot has happened today… After docking on the starboard side near the large cruise ships — for the first time on this trip with the help of a pilot — we were granted shore leave and explored the city center of Nassau. There, we saw countless tourist and jewelry shops, as well as an endless number of cruise passengers. As always, we visited our regular stops during the trip: McDonald’s and Starbucks. Meanwhile, our provisions team went in search of the food supplies we needed. Once everyone had returned, we ended the evening with a relaxed dinner followed by dance workshop (Part 2).
Later that evening, I also had a short interview with our (new) ship’s cook (smut), Luna, who answered a few questions and shared some insights about her life.
What’s your name?
Luna
How old are you?
I’m 26 years old.
What is your job besides being on the Roald?
I completed a dual study program in dietetics and now work as a nutrition counselor for people with obesity.
What motivated you to apply for this trip?
I’ve always enjoyed sailing and have gone sailing several times before. My interest in this trip was sparked by my brother, who participated last year.
What have been your highlights so far?
Costa Rica and the friendships I’ve made. The sunrises and sunsets — especially because of the early mornings for galley duty — have been very special to me. Our community has also grown very close to my heart.
Was there a moment when you thought about ending the trip?
I struggled a lot with seasickness, and spending so much time each day in the galley didn’t make it any easier, since the kitchen is located further aft and therefore experiences more motion.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy cooking and organizing game nights with my friends. I’m also very family-oriented. I like going for walks, traveling, and painting ceramics — either alone or with friends.
What are your plans for the future?
After the trip, I want to return to Hamburg, spend more time by the water, and travel a lot.
Greetings:
Lotti: Juhu!! Grüße an alle! Noch 2 Monate, freu mich auf euch alle! Bis bald 🤗
