Yesterday you heard about Julius‘s turn at being Topsi of the day and today was my turn. Since you all already know what a Topsi does, I won‘t bore you with the details and instead just tell you about the highlights:

I got to lead the unpaking and setting of the Groß-Bram-sail.

Also, have we already told you about the „Wachwelchsel“? I got to lead it today since I was Topsi.
Every time the watches switch we gather next to the Spill in „Wachaufstellung“. The upcoming watch stands on the starboard side, the leaving watch stands on the port side. It starts 5 minutes before the full hour with the leaving watches Topsi informing the upcoming watch about what they did and any specialties on Deck. They end with „Und damit wünscht die abziehende Wache der aufziehenden Wache eine (this part is said by everyone) guuude wacht!“ The upcoming watches Topsi then answers with (any variation of) „Dann bedanken wir uns für eure getane Arbeit und wollen euch nicht länger von dem Essen/ der Koje abhalten. Damit wünscht die aufziehende Wache der abziehenden Wache eine (again everybody) guuude Ruh!“

Since I‘ve heard it almost everyday since we arrived on the Roald it wasn’t very hard to lead and actually pretty fun.
Enough about the watches.

After lunch, there is one thing everyone looks foreward to: Snack time at 3:30 pm! Today it was particularly good. We got fresh apples, oranges and yummy banana-bread.

Another thing worth mentioning about today: Some of us (lead by Deli) painted the Bulleyes of the Mess and Captiains‘ chamber with chrismas paintings. I didn‘t take part but I heard it was very fun.
