Now that the watches are much colder again and you always freeze to death at night, the night watches pass much longer and longer. We are awakened with the words: ‚Good morning it is 3:30 a.m., 10 degrees and from time to time waves come over the deck.‘, already then the enthusiasm for the watch descends directly. The first 2.5 hours of the watch pass very slowly and we are all freezing together on the bridge. Everyone is tired and exhausted. But as soon as the sun rises, the world looks completely different. Everyone is suddenly a little more energetic than before. Many people really wake up now and only then the first conversations begin. At some point you come up with the ingenious idea of playing games or puzzles to let time pass faster. There are many different ones.

Games and Riddle:

Shepherd game: Two people have to leave (one knows the game and the other doesn’t). In the meantime, the others on the bridge choose a ‚black sheep‘. Then the one who doesn’t know the game gets back. All the people who stayed on the bridge have to shout ‚Mähhhh‘ very loudly and the black sheep a little louder than the others. Then the person may try three times to find the black sheep. After he made it or not and it has been solved, he sits down with the other ’sheep‘ on the bridge and it repeats itself. But there is a small change here, the person at the beginning ignorant now also plays along and shouts goose loudly Mähhhh, here only one thing is different. The person is the only person who screams loudly and everyone starts laughing.

As you can see, the shepherd game is not a real game but a joke. The stupid thing, however, is that you can only play the game with one person once. But it’s very funny every time.

Triangle Riddle: The triangle riddle was mainly played at the beginning of our journey. It was introduced by Miriam in the 0-4 watch. So several muesli parties at 4 o’clock in the morning have already been extended until half past six. In the riddle, the person who tells the riddle says: ‚I’m stretching a triangle between…‘ Now the person may name any x-any person, whereby it can also be objects. Of course, she lists three people. For example: I’m stretching a triangle between Beeke, Neele and Joshua. Who owns the triangle?” The one who is asked the mystery now has time to answer this question. The joke is that the triangle belongs to the one who says something last, but he doesn’t even have to be there in the round.

This riddle is really very funny because it is really difficult to come up with. Make come to it quickly, as they were lucky by being pretty obvious. Others, on the other hand, take a really long time.

Psychiatrist game: In the game, a person unknowingly joins the round. All the others stand in a circle and are inaugurated. The ignorant person stands next to two people in the circle and is now allowed to ask yes or no questions. He is now playing the psychiatrist and everyone else has a disease that he needs to find out. Everyone who has been asked a question answers according to his left partner. As soon as the solution to the question is clearly clear, one should or must lie so that the psychiatrist has no idea. After told lies, all ’sick‘ people say: ‚psychiatrist‘ and everyone changes their place. Now everyone has a different person again and the answers change. The goal of the ignorant is to understand the game scheme and also to find out what the meaning is when you say ‚psychiatrist‘.

History game: Again, there are two ignorant people. They are allowed to ask yes or no questions in the round, while they think that the others have come up with a story that they now need to figure out. There is no history at this time. The story is spun by the two people themselves. Because the group always answers with ‚Yes, Yes, No‘. The ignorant always have to take turns asking questions so that the answer always alternates. So the people spin their own, funny story.

100-point game: In the 100-point game, person A thinks of a person or an object. The other people now need to figure out which word person A was thinking of. They say any words and person A then says how many points from 0 to 100 have to do with the word. For example, the word is what person A has come up with wave and the others then say water, as the first attempt, then that are 99 points. So it’s about how much the word has to do with the other word.

In the meantime, you can’t imagine a night watch without riddles or games. It’s a little come back from the first cold nights of our trip.
