Once upon a time, there were 28 students, 3 watch leaders, 4 teachers, and 12 sailors, all living happily together on a pirate ship, cruising through the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the North Sea. Day in and day out, they carried out tasks such as setting sails, bracing yards, anchoring, handling provisions, and repairing damage to the ship’s rigging.
Suddenly, during a dangerous storm, the head teacher received a call from a mysterious man. This man, determined to ruin their lives, introduced a new system. From that day on, the students not only had to sail the ship, but they also had to endure the oppressive torture method called “school.” Despite seasickness, headaches, and complete exhaustion from working on the ship, the students were forced to study math, physics, geography, German, English, and — most torturous of all — history!
The history teacher, who also taught German and English, was an old pirate with years of experience sailing ships. His black beard was so long that it almost touched the floor. He tormented the students with brutally long texts, some stretching over 27 pages. They had to read, analyze, and comment on these texts before being allowed to leave the room.
One warm day near the Bahamas, the students came up with a plan. They decided to write essays and present them to their teacher in hopes of pleasing him and ending the torture. But one student had an even better idea: he wrote an essay about piracy and deliberately included so many grammatical and historical errors that the old teacher, horrified by the text, suffered a heart attack while reading it.
The torture ended, and the students celebrated with a grand party.
From that day on, they sailed happily ever after once again.
But seriously: Getting to learn the history of Caribbean piracy right off the coast of the city where the pirate republic actually existed is insanely cool!
