Today I was woken up with the words, “wake up, wake up, we’re in Martinique!” After I heard the news I sprinted upstairs to finally see land after our three week long trans atlantic crossing. The moment I stood on the deck, I was so stunned by the coast, because it was so beautiful. The crazy thing is that we finally had contact with civilisation after what felt like forever. The landscape is just stunning especially with all the palm trees. So, you guys, we’re in Martinique, that’s so crazy!!!
And then we saw the Johnny which passed us, so we threw a “Laola Welle” in return we received a warm welcome back. That was a really good feeling to know, that we both successfully crossed the Atlantic.
After our short reunion we packed up all our sails. In an all hands, my regular watch ended and we all got some Softdrinks as our captain held a toast and telling us the most exciting news of the day, we’re finally doing a swim stop!!! Lucky for us we had not one but two stops with much more to come.
Because of that, we all changed our clothes into swimwear and threw the ladder over the railing. Following that we all jumped in to the turquoise water cooling off instantly. We all enjoyed our first swim stop, however the second one was even better. But at first we got some really delicious lunch chicken nuggets from our lovely galley duty under our sun sail, which we’re all in love with.
Then the work in the rigg continued, but after we finished, we got some cold water and freshly baked cookies, which gave all of us some energy back. And this energy was used for our second swim stop, where we even got to see the sunset, which was really pretty today and ended our day. 🙂
